Halley’s legacy is that he loved his life, he loved his family, and he would selflessly help a mate or anyone in need. The entire UQ Rugby club and some of his closest friends left behind felt responsible for keeping his legacy alive, so they came up with the idea of the annual Halley Appleby Memorial Ball.
Hearts in Union – Testimonial
“Hearts in Union Rugby Foundation Australia was thrilled to receive a $10,000 donation from the 2013 Halley Appleby Memorial Ball in December last year.
Hearts in Union has used almost half of this donation to undertake some urgent home modifications and repairs for a severely injured former rugby player with spinal damage living in north-west rural NSW. We anticipate using the remainder in the very near future to purchase voice recognition computer software for another beneficiary and to put towards the purchase of a wheelchair accessible motor vehicle. These items have, and will, make significant differences in the day to day lives of our severely injured rugby players.
